Unlock FL Studio on a computer WITH INTERNET access [ Offline Unlock see here ]
1. Make sure you can sign in to your Image-Line Account — Click here to test it. You will need to access your account to unlock FL Studio OR if you don’t have an account and are redeeming a 20 digit product code you will create one at Step 3.
2. Unlock/update FL Studio — Open FL Studio and from the top-left menus select ‘HELP (1)‘ then ‘Unlock FL Studio (2)‘,
3. Enter your Image-Line Account e-mail and password under the ‘Unlock with account’ section and click Unlock. OR if you have a 20 digit FL Studio redemption code click Redeem code. This will allow you to set up an account with a license and then use ‘Unlock with account’ after that.
NOTE: FL Studio versions prior to 20.7.3 have the Account unlock method shown directly on the Help menu > About panel.
4. If Two Factor Authentication (2FA) is active on in your Image-Line Account you will be asked to enter the 2FA code. Enter the 6 digit code sent to your e-mail where the pop-up says ‘Enter the verification code here‘.
NOTES: About your 2FA code e-mail:
- From: ‘noreply@image-line.com’
- Subject: ‘Image Line Account | Two Factor Authentication code ( 123456 ) [ Action Required ! ]’.
- Code: 123456 is just an example. You will get a unique 6 digit 2FA code each time you use it. This code changes each time you unlock FL Studio. Make sure image-line.com emails are whitelisted in your email or search spam/trash folders if you do not see it.
5. After a short wait, be patient, you will see another pop-up .
6. Restart FL Studio — FL Studio must be restarted to complete the unlock process.
OFFLINE / NO INTERNET Unlock FL Studio 20.9 or Later [ Older FL Studio & VST/AU Plugins start here ]
1. Open FL Studio HELP (1) > Unlock FL Studio (2) to open the Unlock Panel (3)
2. From the Unlock panel click ‘More . ‘ under the Unlock with file section
3. From FL Studio 20.9 and higher, you will need to upload the unique Validation file FROM EACH COMPUTER YOU WANT TO UNLOCK OFFLINE. Create one from the pop-up dialog ‘Save validation file . ‘ button. This will save a file ‘licensevalidation.txt‘. You will need this file when you go to your Image-Line Account.
NOTE: It is OK to rename the ‘licensevalidation’ file name to remember which computer it belongs to. Do not edit or change the contents of the file in any way.
4. Go to your Image-Line Account and choose UNLOCK PRODUCTS (1). Then Download OFFLINE Unlock File for FL Studio 20.9 or Later (2)
5. Click the Keyboard Image (3) to download your Regkey file. You will be prompted to upload the ‘Validation File‘ from step 3. Click ‘Upload‘ (4) from the pop-up and browse to the location of you file — licensevalidation.txt.
6. After a while a download will start and you will receive a ‘FLRegkey.Reg‘ file. NOTE: This file will only work on the computer from which the Validation File was generated. You will need to upload a Validation File for each computer you need to unlock offline. NOTE: If you are using a pop-up blocker it will probably throw up a warning at this point. It is safe to proceed, your browser wants to save the Regkey file.
7. Copy the ‘FLRegkey.Reg‘ file to your non-internet connected computer.
8. Unlock/update FL Studio — Open FL Studio and from the top-left menus select ‘HELP’ then ‘Unlock FL Studio‘ in the list and choose. Unlock with file > Load license file
9. From the Unlock with file panel choose ‘Load license file. ‘ and choose the Regkey.Reg file you saved earlier.
10. Restart FL Studio — FL Studio must be restarted to complete the process.
OFFLINE / NO INTERNET Unlock File for FL Studio BEFORE 20.9 & VST/AU Plugins
1. Go to your Image-Line Account and choose UNLOCK PRODUCTS (1).
2. Then ‘OFFLINE Unlock File for Older FL Studio OR VST/AU Plugins‘ (2)
3. Click the Keyboard image (3) to download the ‘FLRegkey.Reg‘ file from your Image-Line Account on a computer or device with Internet access. NOTE: If you are using a pop-up blocker it will probably throw up a warning at this point. It is safe to proceed, your browser wants to save the Regkey file.
4. Copy the ‘FLRegkey.Reg‘ file to your non-internet connected computer (or to the computer where the about panel login method does not work).
5. Unlock/update FL Studio — Open FL Studio and from the top-left menus select ‘HELP’ then ‘Unlock FL Studio‘ in the list.
6. Click ‘Load license file‘ and browse to the saved ‘FLRegkey.Reg‘ file, select it and accept. After a short wait, be patient, you will see another pop-up ‘ The registration succeeded ’
7. Restart FL Studio — FL Studio must be restarted to complete the process.
NOTE: FL Studio versions prior to 20.7.3 have the License and File unlock methods shown directly on the About panel.

How to Unlock FL Studio (the New Way)
The new way is unlocking FL Studio with your Image-Line account.
You can see my FL Studio version is registered because it shows my name in the top right. (Learn more about Riley Weller).
To start the process of unlocking FL Studio from the Trial Version after you’ve purchased FL Studio, go to Help -> About:
Go Help -> About to unlock FL Studio Trial Version. From here, you’ll have to enter your Image-Line account details.
You will then get a pop-up window, just enter your Image-Line details.. it’s really simple!:
Enter your Image-Line account details, and agree to the terms. This is the new way to unlock FL Studio (compared to the old registry key we used to use).
That’s it! Your FL Studio is now unlocked! Enjoy your purchase!
You may have to close/re-open FL Studio.. so it’s wisest to unlock FL Studio on a blank project, so it won’t touch any important projects your working on!

Unlocking FL Studio the Old Way (Registry Key)
Go to the Image-Line website, go to Sign-In and enter your account details.
Note, unlocking FL Studio with the registry key may not be available in newer versions.. however, I’ll show you where to find the registry key to unlock FL Studio if you don’t want to do it the new way with your Image-Line account.
Go to the Image-Line website, and log into your account. (Shown in image above.. screenshot taken in 2019)
Click Unlock Products in Image-Line Account Settings Once Logged In
Once logged in, on the sidebar, you’ll see “Unlock Products”.. click it!
Click the drop-down arrow under “Unlock VST Plugins / Alternative Unlock for FL Studio”. You’ll then click the image to download the registry key!
You can either click the drop down, then click on the arrow to download the registry key, or you can click “this link” option as shown in the image above to access the registry key.
Double-click the .reg file, then click “Run” to install it.
Once you download the registry key (.reg key), you will then double-click it, then install it by clicking run.
It will then warn you that installing registry files is sketchy, and to be really careful and trust where you got the registry file (which is why you should never torrent/illegally download software, because people are smart, and they hack these files and screw up your computer).
Confirm this registry if you believe it is safe from Image-Line.
Once you confirm by clicking “Yes”, you will be presented with a confirmation message! ��
What’s the Best Way to Unlock FL Studio?
The new way to unlock FL Studio from the trial version is to simply use your Image-Line account when you go Help -> About.
However, the old way is to use the registry key.
One way is not better than the other, but I’d personally recommend the Image-Line account way, as it’s new, and the way it will be going forward I assume.

FL 20 — It says that I'm in trial mode
Today I had a prompt that I had to update from FL 12 to FL 20. I can't save projects now cus it says I'm in the trial mode, but I have already bought FL Studio. How do i Fix this?
Also, some of my sound-files no longer work, but I think that's just my own fault for not saving them individually. This is such a bummer.
PS. Is there any way for me to go back to FL 12 if I want to?
Each new major version installs into its own folder by default. As long as you didn't uninstall it or tell the new installer to overwrite it, FL Studio 12 should still be installed.
As mentioned in the other comment, you'll need to re-register FL Studio after updating. Easiest way is to go to the About page and enter your account credentials.
Lastly, I've never heard of FL Studio telling you that you have to update. It might notify you of new updates in the news ticker if you have it enabled, or the tech support guys might recommend it if you're encountering an issue that's been fixed in later versions, but the built-in feature that tells you new updates are available wasn't added until 20.1, and even then it just tells you that it's there, not that you have to do it. I'm very curious about what it is that you saw.
EDIT: After looking around, it seems the update prompt may have been a ReWire thing, which I've personally never used.
