EMF Reader

The EMF reader is a purchasable piece of equipment used to read the strength of electromagnetic fields in the nearby environment.

The EMF reader is used to detect evidence of EMF Level 5.

Contents

Mechanics

The EMF reader is a small black box adorned with five colored LED lights, each one indicating a different EMF level. The reader can be toggled (default: right click on mouse) on to begin reading any emissions.

If the EMF reader is within

1.5-2 metres of an EMF emission, the reader will light up various numbers of its LEDs, accompanied with a pitch increasing with level. If multiple EMF emissions are in range, the one with the highest EMF level will be indicated by the reader. During hunts or when the ghost manifests, EMF readers within 10 metres of the ghost (or higher for a Raiju) will malfunction and display random values between level 1 and 4.

Holding an active EMF reader within 7.5 metres of a ghost (or 2.5 metres for a Yokai) during a hunt on the same floor will attract the ghost.

EMF levels

EMF Level LED Colour Ghost Activity
1 Blue None, default state
2 Green Interacting with an object
3 Yellow Throwing an object
4 Orange Manifestation
5 Red Evidence (25% chance)

EMF Level 5

If the ghost has EMF Level 5 as a possible piece of evidence, each EMF occurrence of Levels 2 or 3 has a 25% chance to trigger a Level 5 indication instead. EMF Level 5 does not necessarily indicate strong activity or immediate danger to the player.

It’s easy to use and a small investment to test the EMF levels in your home at any time you want.

What is EMF?

EMF is the abbreviation for electromagnetic fields.

There are three types of EMF:

  • Magnetic field
  • Electric field
  • Radio frequency (RF)

Each type of electromagnetic field has a different frequency or wavelength, according to the World Health Organization.

EMFs are also known as radiation. There are two different types of radiation based on frequency, according to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences:

  • Non-ionizing: Low-level radiation which is generally not thought to harm humans
  • Ionizing: High level radiation thought to potentially cause DNA and cellular damage

Not all EMF is bad. In fact, EMF naturally occurs everywhere. For instance, thunderstorms build up electric charges which create electric fields. The North Pole and the South Pole have magnetic fields.

When you hear about potential health effects of high EMF levels, the concern isn’t about natural EMF. It is about high EMF from new technology such as power lines, WiFi routers, antennas, microwaves, etc.

What Does an EMF Meter Do?

An EMF Meter (also called an EMF reader or an EMF detector), measures the invisible fields that you can’t see created by electrically charged objects.

The fields of current that are all around you can be measured with an EMF detector.

Those readings are then put into a graph display and can easily be seen on an EMF reader. That’s how you can easily test for EMF radiation.

Best EMF Detector Home Measuring Device

Unlike many gadgets and measuring devices you could use at home, an EMF reader is very easy to use. At least this EMF reader is!

After much research about which type of EMF reader to use at home, I realized that the TriField Model TF2 EMF Meter was among the very best, most affordable and easiest to use. TriField sent me a detector to try. I have to say, it truly is among the easiest home measuring devices I have used!

TriField EMF Meter Model TF2 Review

From the moment that I opened the box of this EMF detector, it has been super easy to use. And with the Quickstart guide, the reading levels have been simple to understand without having to spend hours researching.

The EMF readings that I have found in my home have been surprising for sure. And also puts my mind at ease.

See my video for how to use the TriField EMF Meter Model TF2 and what the actual EMF readings were inside my home:

For instance, we found some lights in our old home that had crazy high EMF readings next to the base. We moved those lights away from the bed and the EMF levels went down.

There were also gadgets and electronics in my home that I was concerned about. But after using the TriField EMF Meter and seeing that the levels were actually within a range I probably didn’t need to worry about, my fears are gone.

It is incredibly easy to use the EMF meter. With just a flip of the switch, I can measure five different types of electromagnetic fields.

5G EMF Reader

How do you measure 5G EMF levels? Measuring 5G EMF is the same as measuring other types of EMF radiation levels and 4G.

This TriField EMF Meter will measure both 4G and 5G.

The 5G radio frequency bandwidths of 600 MHz to 6GHz can be measured by the Model TF2. However, possible future 5G bandwidths from 24GHz to 86 GHz are not currently supported with this model.

How to Use an EMF Reader

When using this TriField EMF Reader, it is very simple to measure EMF readings and levels in your house and outside.

You can use an EMF reader anywhere. So while this tutorial of how to use an EMF reader in your house mentions walls and rooms, you can take readings in your yard, on city streets, etc.

  • Make sure your EMF reader has power. The TriField EMF reader that I use came with a 9-volt battery. Insert the battery.
  • Read the instructions. The FAQ Quickstart Guide with my TriField EMF reader was very simple and easy to understand. The short guide gives you the details you need to know to start measuring EMF readings right away.
  • Turn on the EMF reader. Try to do this for your first time away from any major electrical power sources, such as a fuse box, microwave, dishwasher that is running, WiFi router, etc.
  • Notice the measurement on the EMF reader. Is it in a safe level reading according to the TriField EMF Quickstart guide?
  • There are 5 different types of EMF levels that you can measure on your device. Turn the switch to measure each one and see how the readings change. These five different readings are:
    1. Standard Magnetic
    2. Standard Electric
    3. Weighted Magnetic
    4. Weighted Electric
    5. RF
  • Choose one of the different types of readings (mentioned above) to focus on. Keep the TriField EMF Reader in that setting. Walk around a room or throughout your house. See how the reading levels change as you move location. Make a note of any unusually high EMF readings and where you found them.
  • Pay attention to the current reading (shown in the half circle graph display) and the peak readings (shown in the upper left hand corner). While a current display might look low, the EMF frequency could be pulsing and changing, resulting in some high spikes. That’s why it’s always important to look at the peak number, too.
  • After measuring with one type of reading, choose another type and do another general sweep. For instance, your first sweep of a room or your home might have focused on Standard Magnetic fields. Now you can change the reader to measure RF fields.
  • Pay special attention to measurements around appliances, lights, electric boxes, etc.
  • Once you have measured all of the different types of EMF, then you can start to fix any problems based on the notes that you took.

How to Fix High EMF in Your House

One of the reasons you want to measure EMF in a house is because you want to know if the levels are high or normal. Keep in mind, there are varying ideas of what is safe levels of EMF. But you can refer to the general safe levels of EMF according to TriField.

Note: The World Health Organization also has guidelines for EMF exposure. These are set by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), which evaluates scientific results from all over the world.

Looking at your notes that you took, go back to the areas that had a high EMF level and do some more measuring to find what the problem is.

For instance, an area in your living room might have registered a high reading. Is there a light fixture in that area that could have higher readings? Move the EMF detector towards the light fixture and see if the reading goes higher.

Want an easy way to help mitigate EMF exposure in your home? Try the Lifetune Room which sticks to any wall or surface and works for 500 square feet. (Use Code GETGREENBEWELL for 25% off!) See my video review of Lifetune Devices.

Or get a Somavedic which works up to 100 square feet. See my Somavedic review of the two devices I have in my own home.

Keep in mind that high EMF readings could be coming from another room or even your neighbors.

For instance, a high reading in a living room or bedroom might be because there is a refrigerator, microwave or WiFi router on the other side of the wall. Distance can often make EMF radiation get weaker the farther you are away from it. However, walls don’t necessarily block EMF radiation from going into another room.

If you live in a condo, apartment or townhome, high EMF levels could be coming from your neighbors house through shared walls.

More Home Measuring Devices

If you like to know actual numbers and results of what is going on inside your home, there are more gadgets to use to get real-time results, just like the TriField EMF Meter Model TF2.

EMF Meters: How to Pick a Good EMF Reader

a man thinking about which EMF meter to buy

Today’s world is technology-driven. Most if not all of us use technological devices in our homes, offices and many other places and exposure to electromagnetic fields are increasingly becoming a problem. Most of us use our mobile phones on a daily basis, which is certainly a concern, especially if we’re holding it up to our heads and carrying it around in our pockets. Mobile phones are a prime culprit (among others) for emitting EMF radiation that in the long run could be detrimental to your health, quality of sleep, and overall well-being.

EMF exposure also comes from most of the electronic gadgets you use in your home or office such as baby monitors, wi-fi, microwave, smart meters, computer, laptop, power lines, blenders and many others.

In order to protect you and your loved ones from EMF (Electromagnetic Fields) exposure, we first need to detect what devices a are giving off offensive levels of radiation and where the hot spots are in our home and office. Once we know this, we can then start to put countermeasures in place to help neutralise the effects of this harmful radiation.

So, to begin testing your electrical devices and identifying radiation hot spots, it would be advisable to use an EMF meter, to detect electromagnetic fields. This article is going to delve deeper into some of the things you need to take note of when selecting a meter.

How to Decide the Type of EMF Reader For You

Our markets have so many types of EMF readers, and to be able to choose the one you want to use, you must first understand what you want to measure. It is important to note that the best meter for the job is one that is sensitive to the kind of EMF radiation that you would want to measure, as well as one that would give you accurate information.

EMF meters serve a specific purpose of measuring four different types of EMF that include:

  • Microwave radiation – comes from wireless technology such as Wi-Fi routers, mobile phone towers, baby monitors, phones that are cordless and smart meters.
  • Magnetic fields – typically come from power lines. However, erroneous wiring in your home and also various home appliances can also cause magnetic fields.
  • Electric fields – these radiate from devices that are not shielded. Electrical wiring can also cause electrical fields.
  • Dirty Electricity, which refers to the type of frequencies that traverse the wiring of your home. This can include things like power adapters, solar power inverters, fluorescent lighting, switches with a dimmer function and of course, wireless smart meters.

To be able to decide which EMF meter will be of best use to you, there are other things that you must be able to determine such as:

  1. If you want to measure electric fields, magnetic fields, or radiofrequency fields?
  2. The type of frequencies you are interested in i.e. is it DC, 60 HZ, ELF, VLF, or microwave?
  3. The level of sensitivity you expect the meter to have?
  4. The level of accuracy you expect to attain from using a certain type of meter.
  5. Whether you would rather use analogue, which is considered the best for surveys and readings that are made on the go; or digital meters, which are considered to have higher accuracy?
  6. Whether you require one with three axis, or whether a single axis would serve the purpose just right?
  7. If there are any special features that you would want a meter to have such as portability, an audible signal and multiple capabilities?

What you intend to do with the information. For instance, do you want to locate hot spots, circuits that are faulty, or do you want to present findings to interested parties.

Please also note that the higher the accuracy you get from a certain type of meter, the higher the price is likely to be.
