Why do I receive ‘Failed to Connect to Engine?’
The error «Failed to connect to engine» is caused by the Hamachi Tunneling Engine either failing to start, being in an error state, or being blocked by anti-virus software.
To find the status of the engine:
- Press the Windows key and the [R] key on the keyboard.
- In the run box type services.msc , and press [Enter].
- Look for the Hamachi Tunneling Engine.
If the engine is in any of the following states:
- Started
- Starting
- Stopping
Then try restarting either the service, or the entire computer.
On all OS other than Windows 64 bit, if the service is not running or you receive an error upon start-up, check the following registry location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hamachi
On Windows 64 bit, check here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Hamachi
There should be a String Value (REG_SZ) labeled EngineConfigDir. If this is not present, create it by right clicking in the blank space and choosing New > String Value . You may enter any folder location you desire, and it will create the necessary files there for the engine to run.

Where is the Services.MSN.
In XP you can hit the start button, go over to run, type services.msc in the box, and hit enter. Alternately, hit start, go to control panel, Performance and Maintenance, Administrative Tools, then Services.
In Vista or Windows 7, hit the start bubble and type services.msc in the search box, and hit enter.
Hey guys i did exactly what i was suppose to do but for some reason the LogMeIn status is at starting therefore not allowing me to stop or start the service. is there anyway you can help me get past this problem?
Kill the hamachi process in task manager, slect 'view all processses' and find the other hamachi under system.
You can then click start via this method here, and it will run fine
i tried what you just saiad and still no luck. i have vista
my tunnel is set at starting so i can't start or stop it
Ah ha! This works just fine. For those who are still having trouble and find that the service is running, yet not working, you have two choices; either restart the service, or stop it, and start it again. I had to restart mine in order for Hamachi to connect to the engine, and after this was completed, it worked just fine.
Just to say, for people who can't seem to locate the 'Stop' and 'Restart' buttons, they are both located near the top left of the screen as you click onto the Hamachi service. (Don't double click, or it will bring up another screen showing the details of the service)
also if the service is labled as disabled in the services window right click it, select properties and change start-up type from disabled to manual or automatic. You should now be able to start the service.

I found a solution to the stuck in "Starting" state here :
I used TaskMgr to find the PID for the LogMeIn Hamachi 2.0 Tunnelling engine, which was stuck in Starting state. Then killed it with taskkill. Started it in the Services CP, and now Hamachi GUI connects to the engine again.
The service isn't there. At all. I installed a program called Soluto which helps fix boot times and it set Hamachi to delayed start, but when I did that the service disappeared entirely!

I want use Hamachi in my MacBook M1 Ventura 13.1. When i starting "create a new network" or "join in existing network", i received "failed to connect to the engine" error.
Can i use Hamachi in my Mac?
I tried search information on internet, but not found anything.

I had to take the default suggested installation directory because when I tried installing to another loacation the driver files still went to the default location. This is what cause the tunneling or «triangles» to appear.
I have a problem with Hamachi Virtual Ethernet Adapter.
In Device Manager, there is a yellow warning triangle next to the Ethernet Adapter.
I tried everything but they didn’t help.
I don’t use any third party VPN just Virutal Box and VPN unlimited but they are turned off.
I hope someone can help me.
Is there any timeline for supporting the new Apple ARM Macs. We got our first one this week, but we are unable to run Hamachi on it. Not a deal breaker yet, but this will be a requirement for us in the next 6-10 months.
@fhgadmin What’s the use case in this scenario? Are the native Hamachi applications insufficient there?

The native hamachi application is not launching. I get an error «Cannot connect to engine». A review of the logs reveals an error like «file arm64e does not exist».
You may want to try this:

Hello. I recently wanted to use hamachi. And did so. When someone connected it showed a yellow triangle. I right-clicked on him and diagnosed the problem. this is what it said:
Tunnel:
VPN domain’s tap device is down
Local results:
Adapter configuration:
Cannot get adapter config
Traffic test: Cannot complete test
Peer results: [253-751-546]
Adapter configuration: OK
Traffic test: OK
He does not have a VPN on his PC. Any suggestions?

I would start by checking your network drivers in the network and sharing center to see if the hamachi network adapter was installed correctly. ( also your screenshot link you posted is broken).

On 50% of the Updated Windows 10 Creators Updates the Hamachi Adapter is Damaged and resulting in Yellow Triangles, only a Deinstall and Reinstall is working.
I had same (or just similar) problem and solved it by renaming the Hamachi Network Adapter to «Hamachi» from «Ethernet 3» (which it was named inadvertently, somehow, not by me)

It happened after I had to abort a windows update for win10. must have corrupted the network names.
I got this problem also after I switch back from Windows 10 to Windows 7 for compability hardware problem. After go in Win 7 and download latest Hamachi from website I can’t solve this triangle problem by every explanation I get from internet. Fortunately, I remember I still have my hard drive backup in 2014 and find my old Hamachi saved ver 6.0.2.2, driver date 14/05/2007. After I installed it the triangle problem dissapear and my Hamchi can connect to the network. I didn’t do update and just use my old Hamachi. Hope this will help you.
There was yellow triangle left of connected pc and when I clicked it said tunnel error. Then I run diagnostic and there is tunnels yellow and in info it said problems found. I clicked on details and there it said «Peer details:
DESKTOP-PKT5F1H VPN domain’s tap device is down». I know there is similar topics but I read them all and i didn’t find solution. I tried in services md reset hamachi connection, then I renamed adapter in «Hamachi», also I tried reset hamachi2 in task manager. Nothing of this solutions in all that topics about this subject didn’t work so I open new fresh one and hope someone have good solution. Or if there is no good solution what is good alternitive for this hamachi so I can download it and play with friends without stupid peer and tunnel errors?

Start > Run > cmd
in the comand prompt, key in the following exactly.
net start Hamachi2svc
If it does not work, the hamachi service process is not installed or diabled.
I did this and it said that the file is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Hamachi has been working since I installed it 3 days ago, until now. What could have changed and how?
I don’t know what has changed, but this problem seems to happen almost on every reboot now. However, it’s easy to fix, albeit a little extra work. See my previous post.
Mine doesn’t even say starting.
And i can’t tell the service to start either, the option is greyed out.
Oh and if i go into task manager and try to start the service through the services tab, it says that the operation could not be completed. Access denied.
I get the whole trying to kill it through Task Manager and starting the service but this still requires me to remember to check it when I reboot any of my machines. or pray if I remote reboot them. If I forget to check the service (like this morning), I get to work and realize I can’t access a remote machine. This is getting ridiculous.
I’ve tried other p-2-p services and haven’t been as happy with them as Hamachi, so I think I’m going to find a program or script that will restart the service when it doesn’t respond. or find another service as a backup.

There should be a String Value (REG_SZ) labeled EngineConfigDir. If this is not present, create it by right clicking in the blank space and choosing New > String Value . You may enter any folder location you desire, and it will create the necessary files there for the engine to run.
